Pert is the next generation home automation innovation, that lets you control your switches from mobile, from anywhere. It is a smartly designed gadget that snuggles behind any switchboard and can be installed within minutes, without any extra wiring or expert involvement. Pert enables you to see, compare and save your electricity bills through its interactive app.
While working under switch soft technologies, we team have decided to come up with an idea for a product which could be Internet of Things. Ruling out various ideas, we finally came up with this innovative though called Pert. Pert makes the electrical switchboards at home smarter than ever before. In order to implement the idea the hardware team and the developers came up with a working prototype to which, the mobile application was needed by the mobile application developers to make the Pert installed switch boards accessible. Thus, this led me through a path to build the mobile experience from the scratch.
As the concept of IoT was an extremely new idea, I had to do a lot of research behind the process design and experience principles. I have used other IoT devices such as Nest to understand its design and way the whole idea of IoT devices works. Later, this also led me to learn about the principles of iPhone application design as well as android application design. Simultaneously, the wireframes and strategies were discussed over whiteboard along with the important core team members to make sure everyone would agree to how the product is to be designed. Several iterations have been done to get the perfect user flows. More than 50 sheets of wire framed design papers were trashed. The final set of wireframes were developed using the UXPin web application and the final UI designs were implemented using the Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6. Further a beautiful website was also designed to promote the product and also participated in the promotional campaigns.
